Reading Single Homeless Project started life as a soup kitchen; 31 years later, in 2010, their role and mission had changed considerably. Although not a small charity, their low profile in the greater Reading area, particularly amongst local businesses and media, was an obstacle. Our brief was to make them more professional, raise awareness and increase both corporate funding and public donations.
Strategy and naming
With changes in local Government policy and funding, RSHP needed to look at fresh revenue streams. They were also hindered by a clunky name, so we devised a series of stakeholder workshops to clarify their vision and aspirations. Giving people a fresh start underpinned their new name: Launchpad.
Brand identity and guidelines
Their iconic building and its wonderful stable doors gave us inspiration for their new look. And we were only too happy to repay the favour, with a lick or six of fresh paint. Clear and comprehensive PDF guidelines help Launchpad’s staff and partners bring their brand to life.

Website design and build
A comprehensive website for Launchpad was key. Visually stimulating, it outlines the charity’s objectives clearly and concisely, integrates social media and allows staff to update content through the WordPress content management system.
Literature and marketing collateral
For the key Launchpad fundraising initiatives over the year, we’ve created event brands and assorted collateral to engage with differing audiences and help support their crucial work.
‘Cream Design rose to this challenge unremittingly; they asked the right questions, met every deadline and responded to every challenge intuitively, proactively, imaginatively and with utmost professionalism whilst injecting proceedings with a great deal of fun and laughter. Interesting, happy people doing colourful, creative and professional work with Reading’s most demanding and discerning clients.’
