Brighter Futures for Children is an independent, not-for-profit-company established to deliver children’s services on behalf of Reading Borough Council. Protecting and enhancing the lives of the children of Reading, they help families find long-term solutions to ensure children lead happy, healthy and successful lives.

Brand identity
Our new identity sets them aside from the previous service provision and alludes to the expertise they carry forward. Symbolising a brighter future: the heart/B icon has a sun at it centre – representing children as the core of their focus. Professional and compassionate, the brand help the diverse audience engage with the new company with confidence and positivity.

Brand guidelines
Comprehensive brand guidelines were created to help stakeholders moving onwards, alongside InDesign, PowerPoint and Word templates.

Photography and Illustration
We commissioned Salvo Toscano to photograph the broad diversity of children in action at three Reading primary and nursery schools. A suite of illustrations were crafted to help signpost users across print and digital assets.

Architectural graphics and signage
Energising staff, the majority of whom had worked for the Council’s children’s services departments, was key. Offices were transformed with large-format architectural graphics and new wayfinding external and internal signage was developed for clients and partners alike.

Website design and build
We designed and developed a website which had to walk the line between attracting job seekers and clearly presenting crucial information.

‘The transfer of Children’s Services to Brighter Futures for Children will result in a step change in the way services are provided for young people in Reading.’
Peter Sloman, Chief Executive, Reading Borough Council
