The challenge

As the supermarkets get ever more dominant, the stalwarts of the high street – the baker, the butcher, the greengrocer – risk invisibility.

The solution

We started in the bakehouse. Armed with little more than a camera, we captured the skill and craft of the bakers. It was tough to leave, but with a fistful of pictures and a portion of lardy, we crafted an identity with their equipment at its heart. Cooking up an iconic character – Dan Crumb – was our next step. His colourful costumes look good enough to eat. Especially just out of the oven.
